The KSPCA is the only charity in Kenya that deals with the rescue, re-homing and welfare of dogs. We appreciate what amazing and underrated dogs are, therefore, we are happy to be part of the Dog Day celebrations on 26th August 2020.
Dog Day is a day when we should reflect on the loyalty and value that dogs bring to our lives and do our bit for the homeless and abused dogs in Kenya. Dogs have various functions, from being a loving pet in your home and guarding your property, to working for emergency and security companies, or supporting people who are blind, deaf, or disabled.
Dog Day is an opportunity to give something back to our canine friends. You could adopt a homeless dog from the KSPCA shelter or take your dog for a check up at your local veterinary clinic where he/she may be dewormed and vaccinated if this is due. Maybe bath or groom your dog and take him for a walk on a lead.
The International Dog Day Foundation supports all varieties of dogs and discourages purchasing from unethical breeders and puppy mills. National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year. To celebrate dogs today, spend time with your own dogs and support dogs in need.
